Opening the Diabetic Foot Room, Urology Department and Neurosurgery Department at Aswan University Hospital

In frame of the presidential initiative under patronage president. Abdel-Fattah El sisi _Republic president, Ambassador. Nabila Makram Abdel-Shahid _ Minister of immigration, Major General. Ashraf Attia _ Aswan Governor, Dr. Ayman Othman_ Aswan University president_ opened Today the Diabetic Foot Room, Diagnostic Unit, Remote Therapy, Urology Department and Neurosurgery Department at Aswan University Hospital, and that in attendance of Dr. Ashraf Mebed_ Executive Manager of Aswan University Hospitals, Dr. Essam Abo El-majd_ Manager of surgery hospital, Vice dean for Education and students’ affairs and Mostafa Zamzam_ Chairman of the board of trustees of Sonaa El-Khair Foundation for Development.

Dr. Ayman Othman confirmed that today the opening of the first room of its kind to provide treatment and awareness services for diabetic foot patients in southern Egypt comes within the framework of reducing the burden on patients in Aswan Governorate and patients in southern Upper Egypt governorates and working to protect diabetic foot patients from amputation, inside Aswan University Hospital and within an initiative “Healthy Foot” was recently launched by the Sonaa Al Khair Foundation for Development under the patronage of the Prime Minister and under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and in implementation of the protocol of joint cooperation between Sonaa Al Khair Foundation and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals.

Dr. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury_ Dean of Faculty of Medicine, indicated that this room is the first of its kind in Upper Egypt, which was equipped by Sonaa Al Khair under the slogan of the presidential initiative inside Aswan University Hospital, which aims to treat all diabetic foot patients_ who are unable_ free of charge in southern Egypt with the provision of treatment, care and Awareness services for them for free, and that come within the framework of providing new and distinguished medical services to patients in Aswan and southern Upper Egypt governorates.

Dr. Ashraf Mebed_ Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, stated that the visit program also includes the opening of a remote detection room in cooperation with the hospitals of the Ministry of Health to exchange medical expertise on patients’ cases to reach the most appropriate diagnosis of patients’ cases in various medical specialties. The Urology Department was also opened after being developed and equipped with a capacity of 22 beds, the Neurosurgery Department was also opened with 10 intensive care beds and 12 beds for patients. The medical convoy work in various specialties will be launched to the village of Al-Madiq in Nasr Al-Nuba, which will implement free examinations for cases, perform the necessary analyzes and x-rays, and transfer surgical cases to Aswan University Hospital to perform the necessary operations for patients.

Dr. Essam Abo El-Majd_ Director of the Surgery Hospital, stated that new medical departments have been opened at the University Hospital, which will make a major breakthrough to receive more cases and reduce waiting lists.

For his part, Mostafa Zamzam – Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sonaa Al-Khair Foundation for Development, confirmed that the Healthy Foot Initiative room at Aswan University, which is being opened today in cooperation with the Vascular Department at Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, will provide all aspects of health care for diabetic foot patients who are unable to Foot amputation prophylactic treatment, free spare parts for all cases, by providing free monthly treatment for patients who are unable, with the launch of awareness programs on ways to prevent diabetic foot infection and how to define ways to protect against foot amputation and ways to optimally deal with diabetic foot wounds.

At the end of the Minister of Immigration’s tour of the university hospital, Major General. Ashraf Attia_ Governor of Aswan, and Dr. Ayman Othman_ Aswan University president, presented the university’s shield to the Minister of Immigration in appreciation and gratitude for her support to the health system in Aswan. The President of Aswan University presented the university’s shield to Mostafa Zamzam, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sonaa El-khair Foundation for Development, for good joint cooperation.
